Equipping Members for Gift-based Ministry

In accordance with the Biblical mandate given to leaders in Ephesians 4:12, the Personal Ministries Department of the Toms River Seventh-day Adventist church will assist in “..the perfecting of the saints, for the work of the ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ.”

Ministry Theme (2013):


“Prepare to meet thy God, O Israel.”  [Amos 4:12]


To provide resources and equip members to unite their efforts with those of the pastor and church officers in soul-winning service.


The Toms River Personal Ministries Department will cooperate with the church’s leadership in facilitating the development of a spiritually nurturing environment wherein the church’s Mission (Matthew 28:19-20) and Message (Revelation 14:6-12) will be activated in the lives of each member, resulting in an increased passion for souls and service.


The establishing of a healthy church in the Toms River, New Jersey area - one that places emphasis on interacting with the local community, providing opportunities for soul winning, nurturing of its members, and the developing of Christ-centered leadership.

Focus Areas:



  • Provide resource to equip and train members for soul-winning service.
  • Participate as a representative ministry of the church board.
  • Establish agenda and keep minutes for Personal Ministries Council meetings.
  • Chair the Personal Ministries Council.
  • Establish sub-committees as needed to address specialized tasks/services.
  • Provide reports on outreach/missionary activities of the congregation.
  • Coordinate literature distribution activities.
  • Representative of the Adventist Book Center for all Departments of the church.
  • Coordinate soul-winning programs with the Evangelism Coordinator.
  • Prepare and implement a Strategic Ministry Plan for the church.
  • To plan for and conduct the weekly and monthly Personal Ministries meetings as called for in the church calendar.
  • Establish an annual budget for support of the ministry and provide the appropriate accounting for all funds received and disbursed.


GOALS (2013):


  1. Prepare a Strategic Ministry Plan for the Toms River SDA church.
  2. Equip the members of the church with the resources they need to promote spiritual growth and effective evangelistic outreach.



  1. Facilitate the development of a unified vision and united plan of action. 
  2. Facilitate the promotion of quality services, programs and activities
  3. Provide structure for accountability among Department Leaders
  4. Provide resources and tools for member equipping, training and mentoring
  5. Provide Bible study resources
  6. Facilitate literature distribution
  7. Facilitate and encourage scripture memorization
  8. Collaborate with church departments in evangelistic activities
